The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

- Daughters Victoria (UC-Berkeley), Caroline (UCLA) and families are true joys! (Some limited evidence of these two California girls is attached!) -After years here and abroad in the engineering and construction industry (Bechtel, Fluor and Badger) and earlier in academia (MIT and India), I'm now consulting part-time on development, assessment and commercialization of new energy processes and technologies. I've also served pro bono on several recent energy-focused panels of the National Research Council and the Defense Science Board (each assignment being a fine, but rather sobering and humbling experience!). MUCH earlier: Led a team to build a system producing X-ray images of Soviet SS-21 missiles (inside a closed railcar), as they left the factory in the USSR. System was part of On-Site Inspection of the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. Equal challenge/fun was providing support in Washington, Geneva and Moscow to US and Soviet negotiators to convince the Soviets the system was acceptable! -Growing roses and reading (Mark Twain!) command a fair amount of my attention also. -Wonderful memories of Penn State days seem like only yesterday, and center on great classmates, faculty and friends, Fiji Brothers (and Phi Gam Girls), and cheerleading adventures! -So many stories, not enough space (or, perhaps, discretion)!
